The Seventh Son movie was much better than the critics gave it credit for. And this series of books is why.The last apprentice inhabits a world that has a complex history and rules of magic/physics. It is well-realized and deftly told.
The language is crisp and appropriately challenging for an intermediate or young adult reader without being cloying, simplistic, or dull.
I am not a young adult reader. But I loved it anyway.
And I wish the movie critics had read the books. Maybe then they could have seen the good parts of the film.

this series is great!! its really hard to put the book down!! even though im 9 i still love it... the whole idea is great and how much detail he puts into it is amazing! i really cant stop reading it. i recommend this book to anyone realy (thats at this level of reading) but once you pick the book up you cant put it back down!!

The adventures of Thomas Ward remind me of the Harry Potter series but with a much more darker tone. If like magic and adventure then these books are for you!

This is a great series. Very different from the movie, and much much better than the movie. It is an easy read and a darker version of Harry Potter.
A really good series that told well the story of the young apprentice spook. Excellent story lines except for the Kobalos one, didn't care for that, hence took half a star. Otherwise well worth your time, get the series, you won't regret it.
